Amali Ward is a pop\u002Fsoul singer and songwriter from Sydney.\nInfluenced by the Motown era, Amalis music is timeless, but this isnt just a throwback to something youve heard before. Amalis charismatic vocals and witty lyrical style are undoubtedly her own. Tongue firmly in cheek, Amalis music doesnt take itself too seriously - no gimmicks or pretension - its just good.\nAfter appearing on a national music television show at just 16, Amali released a self-written\u002Fproduced independent EP, which saw her play Bluesfest, the Southern Roots festival and support slots for The Bamboos, Paris Wells and Naturally 7.\nShe spent the next few years honing her songwriting chops, writing in the US with Jack Splash (Cee Lo Green, Estelle, John Legend), Cri$tyle (Rihanna, Beyonce), and Warryn Campbell (Alicia Keys, Kanye West), before eventually returning to Australia to finish writing her debut album with longtime collaborator Beau Golden.\nRecorded in Los Angeles, produced by David Ryan Harris (John Mayer) and backed by heavyweight US session musicians, her entirely self-written\u002Fco-written debut Back In Time, due for release in early 2013, features the track Knock You Out, which won the international John Lennon Songwriting Contest earlier this year, as well as the catchy first single Leave Me Alone.\nIn addition to her Lennon Award win, 2012 has already seen Amali support UK superstar Seal at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, as well as co-writing and featuring on the Dr Don Don single Good Thing, which has received strong Triple J rotation.
