A band motivated by the alternative guitar rock of American bands like Sonic Youth, Nirvana and the Pixies, as well as British rock giants such as the Beatles and Blur, the Czech Republic's Vypsana Fixa formed in 1995. After a quartet of demos, the band secured a more ‘official' deal, and released their debut, Everything Brutal (translated into English from Czech for purposes of this bio), in 2001 on BMG. The band would follow the debut up with Beastly Happy (again, translated from Czech) in 2003. Building on their initial successes, Vypsana released a live CD and a live DVD in 2006. Members Mardi, Meyla, Mejn, Pitrs released album number four in 2007. That album, entitled Fenomen, released on Sony, was a huge hit, landing at the top spot on the Czech album charts.
